When people are looking for a real estate agent, they are looking for an expert, not just someone with a license. One of the things you should discipline yourself with is consistently finding new ways to show off your expertise. The news on interest rates this week is one of those times!
You can market your business through educating others on topics relating to your business . Once you do this consistently, you will develop an authority position amongst your network. People trust and respect authorities!
Real estate news like, “the first interest rate increase in nearly a decade”, are one of those perfect topics that allows you market your real estate services. This gives you an excuse to market your business in a sell without selling kind of way. You have an opportunity to educate your database (audience) and the general public exactly what an interest rate hike means to them.
This is referred to as content marketing. You are creating content based on relevant news so that you may distribute it! Authorities attract business. Salesmen chase it!
Which one do you want to do?
I see many Realtors sharing articles about the interest rate hike on Facebook and other social media platforms. Sharing an article is great, but you can do better.
Why don’t you write your own commentary on it? Post it on your own blog or company’s blog.
Which do you think would make you appear more like an expert or an authority? You can share someone else’s article or use this opportunity to create your own and position yourself as an expert.
Don’t have a blog? Don’t know how to blog?
No problem, then film a video. Your video can be about your opinion on what you think the interest rate hike is going do to buyers and sellers in 2016.
When people see you on video you are more likely to be perceived as an expert? It does not have to be super professional, it just has to be real.
Creating content is not going to make you rich! Creating good content and distributing amongst a relevant audience is the way to go. You still have to get people to see what you created to generate business. This is where you can use social media.
The majority of people who are going to see your content are going to be people that you already know. You can promote your content to strangers with Facebook if you have a more advanced marketing strategy set up, but if this is your first few times doing this, then just get it out to your networks.
This video took me 30 minutes from start to finish and was much faster than publishing a blog.
Once you create your content whether it be a video or a blog article, it’s time to get it out there. Here’s the list I like to follow with all of the content I create;
- Create an image to place it as the thumbnail for my video
- Optimize my video on Youtube for search results
- Post my content on my personal profile Facebook page
- Promote my content to Facebook highly targeted audiences
- Post on my Twitter
- Post on my Linked In feed and post article in “Pulse”
- Post of my Google +
- Post on my Pinterest Boards
- Email my content to my email list.
I follow this process with each piece of content I create.
